It was way back in March when Twitchy first reported on the Commerce Department’s announcement that the Trump administration would be adding a question on citizenship to the 2020 census.
Progressive heads began exploding immediately, from the chair of the DNC to California’s attorney general to Eric Holder to the Atlantic’s Vann R. Newkirk II, who accused the Trump administration of “weaponizing” the U.S. census to pander to white nationalists and anti-immigrants.
We don’t know if Sen. Kamala Harris owes Newkirk royalties or at least a shout-out for stealing his line, but on Friday, she again was up in arms over the weaponization of the U.S. census by adding a question about citizenship.
This Administration is once again trying to weaponize the census to depress a full and accurate count of the U.S. population. Absolutely shameful. https://t.co/KtQJQUq4WR

Plenty have brought it up before, but the more she tweets, the more Harris really makes us wonder: does she prioritize the rights of legal U.S. citizens over illegal immigrants at all? Ever?
I thought you represented Americans?

Take your TDS medication, Harris. Be honest, now. You are well aware that such has been on Census form prior to Democrats getting it removed. Stop distorting the truth.

Even The Hill ran a piece back in March asking opponents to “stop ginning up hysteria” and noting, “Lost in this partisan uproar is that a citizenship question has appeared in some form or another on censuses throughout our history. Indeed, it was only removed entirely in 2010 by President Obama, and its roots stretch deep into the founding era.”
So Harris and California demand that the citizenship question stripped from the census; plus, they’ve legally made themselves a sanctuary state and have proudly announced that more than 1 million illegal immigrants have been granted driver’s licenses since 2015. Who’s weaponizing what now?
So American citizens shouldn’t know how many noncitizens live in OUR country? Is that what u are saying? Since you want them here why don’t you Democrats pay for them instead of the middle class!?

Democrats are once again trying to retain their weaponization of the census to exploit non-citizens (legal and illegal) to extend their power over the US. Absolutely shameful. https://t.co/BjCrc31TsT

“Home wrecker Harris “ doesn’t want the census data shared with law enforcement because illegals would no longer supply their info, and the census goes merely by the total population in an area to determine the number of house seats. Illegals like to settle in dem cities. Soooo..
— Pat (@Pat14094526) November 24, 2018
more illegals in dem cities=more house seats=more dem house seats. If Kamala doesn’t want census info shared with law enforcement ok, but pass legislation that only US citizens get representation in the house and you’ve got a deal. Never going to happen though will it?
— Pat (@Pat14094526) November 24, 2018
Non citizens shouldn’t matter to the census.. the 3/5th’s compromise was the Measure put in place by the abolitionist north to limit southern slave states congressional power. Maybe something similar should be put in place for sanctuary states.

What’s shameful is not wanting to protect US citizens—-oh, and comparing ICE agents to the KKK is pretty hideous as well.
— Spvati (@spvati) November 24, 2018
Hey, come on now … not even Sen. Harris sunk so low as to compare ICE to the Klan. Oh, wait, nevermind … she actually did.

For what it’s worth, there was some movement in the courts this week as reported by BuzzFeed’s Chris Geidner:
CENSUS CASE UPDATE: 2nd Circuit denies a stay of the trial proceedings in the Census citizenship question challenge in a brief order, meaning DOJ likely will go to SCOTUS seeking a similar stay soon. pic.twitter.com/rJuWGOyC1n
— Chris Geidner (@chrisgeidner) November 21, 2018
DOJ is expected now to ask #SCOTUS to step in & stop a district court judge from finishing a trial that it previously refused to stop from taking place. (Yes, it's weird, but SCOTUS also agreed to hear a case challenging what evidence could be used in the case, so, who knows.)
— Chris Geidner (@chrisgeidner) November 21, 2018
Who knows? One thing we do know: we sure are glad Hillary Clinton didn’t make the last two Supreme Court picks.
