As Twitchy has reported, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Tuesday that he’s abandoning his bid for a third term and will not run for re-election.
Even liberal ThinkProgress has called his two terms “disastrous” for Chicago:

Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce is pretty sure she knows why Emanuel picked now to make his announcement:
When there's nothing left to ruin or destroy… Rahm Emanuel calls it quits. https://t.co/BufLrlFU3I

Pretty much.

Hey, he tried: he kicked off that “Put the Guns Down” initiative the day after 20 were shot; 15 people were shot and 3 killed that weekend.

I guess he realized he couldn't tap dance around the 1,000 shootings since Memorial Day stat. Bye Rahm, please collect your things and go.

Fair point:
Rahm Emanuel didn't destroy Chicago alone. Plenty of Democrats had a hand in its demise for over nearly a century.

One thing is for sure. Rahm, the elected mayor, didn't do a damn thing to help the situation either.

Very true.

He said one truth- "this has been the job of a lifetime". Exactly why we need TERM LIMITS!

Oh really, the job of a lifetime? How many lifetimes of others did u sacrifice so you could have “The job of a lifetime” ?

He knows he couldn’t get re-elected so taking his pouty I’m a great guy this isn’t my fault face and going home. He has been a wreck for Chicago. I’ve lived there my whole life and never felt unsafe in the city until his lack of leadership.

Don't wait for the election… resign now for the sake of thousand suffering in the war zone you've created in a once proud and civilized city… Chicago.

Radio host Mark Simone is pretty jazzed:
Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel has come up with a great way to save lives – he just announced he won’t seek re-election. Chicago already planning a victory celebration.
— MARK SIMONE (@MarkSimoneNY) September 4, 2018
Do they still have those fireworks they were saving for Hillary’s victory party?
