On the same day hundreds of newspapers coordinated by The Boston Globe all published editorials pushing back on President Trump’s anti-press rhetoric, the GOP-led Senate also unanimously passed a resolution saying the press “is not the enemy of the people” and plays a “vital and indispensable” role.
The Senate just passed a resolution affirming that "the press is not the enemy of the people" and condemning attacks against the fourth estate. "Efforts to systematically undermine the credibility of the press" are "an attack on our democratic institutions." Unanimous consent.

So does this mean there is officially no such thing as "fake news?

Don't you think maybe the people out in the boonies might be allowed to vote with their feelings? Like by canceling subscriptions? Y'all a bunch of elitist hacks. The Senate too. https://t.co/rrnE4dUUql

Everyone, the Senate is full of our moral betters. https://t.co/0tdddTpkea

Whatever…
Now do fake news….. since that's where the president's focus has been.
It's never been about the media……… it's been about the lying false narrative driving ideological media abusing their privilege.

The press isn't, the fake news media is. Freedom of the press does not protect a class of people, it protects the right of ANYONE to print, distribute, video, blog, etc.. A j school sheepskin or a piece of plastic around your neck makes you no more 'the press' than me.

The press is free last I checked. In fact they are all guns a blazing in anti trump. Free Press doesn’t mean they can’t be held accountable either.

Now do the 2nd Amendment!
— dedrekon (@dedrekon) August 16, 2018
Funny, I've never seen one of these circle jerk resolutions about the Second Amendment. https://t.co/zrUnvSKtti

You won’t. That might actually have political consequences.
