Gender studies programs in state-run universities banned … in Hungary; Here, they pay really well

Here’s some news out of Hungary: Pluralist reports that the Hungarian government announced last week that it would ban gender-studies programs from state-run universities, saying “the programs have no tangible use and are based on ‘ideology rather than science.'”

“There is no economic rationale for studies such as these,” said a government spokesperson, who added the programs “take away valuable resources from other programs.”

Meanwhile, in America, it’s still fashionable to take out tens of thousands of dollars in student loans to major in gender studies and then demand student loan forgiveness from the government because you can’t find a job.

That is, unless you find a job teaching in the field of gender studies. Then you can make more money than STEM professors.

Ashe Schow reports in The Daily Wire:

Professors of “Area, Ethnic, Cultural, Gender, and Group Studies” are paid nearly $12,000 more than the average professor across all disciplines and institutions. They’re paid nearly $16,000 more than the average math professor across all institutions. They’re also paid more than the average biology and biomedical professor, professor of engineering technologies (those who implement the work of engineers), and professor of physical sciences (chemistry, physics, etc.).

Somebody has to train campus diversity police, on which some universities spend millions every year.
