Not done yet: CNN narcs on Apple and Google for still hosting the InfoWars app

This next tweet is out of context but it went through our feed and it summed up our feelings rather nicely:

Yes, we’re well aware of the more awful things that Alex Jones has said, especially about Sandy Hook, but a red light went off when we saw CNN’s Oliver Darcy saying that the media should get more credit than it was getting for compelling tech platforms including Facebook, Apple, Google, Spotify, YouTube, YouPorn (really), and even Pinterest to ban Alex Jones and InfoWars — and it looks like an email from Mashable was all it took to get Pinterest to fall in line.

So what’s CNN’s next move? The network is keeping an eye on Apple’s and Google’s stores, which are still carrying the InfoWars app.

No kidding, the app contains the same sort of content as the other platforms. Except you literally have to head to an online storefront, do a search, and knowingly download it to your mobile device. So what role, exactly, does CNN think it’s playing in this “story”?

Paul P. Murphy writes:

Both stores categorize InfoWars as “news.” On the Apple App Store, InfoWars’ app has gone as high as #23 among free news apps, ahead of offerings from legitimate news outlets like the Associated Press, CBS News, USA Today, NPR, Bloomberg, MSNBC, Washington Post, NBC News, Politico and the Financial Times.

A Google spokesperson told CNN, “While we don’t comment on specific apps, we can confirm that our content policies are designed to provide a great experience for users and developers. If an app violates our policies, we take action.”

That’s a nice store you’ve got there, Google … be a shame if anything happened to it.

We see what you did there.

Honestly, did nothing else happen over the weekend? We mean, besides the media freaking out because the Newseum gift shop was betraying its First Amendment mission by selling MAGA hats and “Fake News” T-shirts?

Somebody cares. Look out, Apple and Google, you’ve been reported to leftist boycott collective Sleeping Giants:

It’s OK, CNN … none of your shows have been targeted for coordinated boycotts yet.
