Plenty of conservatives, from Mitt Romney to Newt Gingrich, are blasting President Trump Monday for his joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which Trump drew some sort of moral equivalence between the U.S. and Russia, saying both countries were responsible for the decline of diplomatic relations:
"I think that the United States has been foolish. I think that we've both been foolish…I think we're all to blame."

“I think we’re all to blame?” That’s diplomatic, we suppose, but we like NationalReview.com editor Charles C. W. Cooke’s take:
"Mr. Gorbachev, we're all to blame for this wall" doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

True.
Yes, we understand that Reagan wasn’t on stage with Gorbachev when he demanded, “Tear down this wall!” But on a day that’s been pretty exhausting for many American patriots, it’s nice to see a tweet about the presser that doesn’t include the word “treason” or “impeach.”

Reagan: Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!
Trump: Mr. Gorbachev, big beautiful wall you got! And, I know walls. Nobody knows walls, like I do. Great wall, really great! China ain't got nothing on that wall! Big strong wall! Impressive! Would go great with a big beautiful hotel!— Don Diego De La Vega (@CatholicZorro) July 16, 2018
"We will demolish the wall…and East Germany will pay for it."

Washington: I'm sorry Your Majesty, the Boston tea party was completely our fault. We misunderstood your taxes and reasoning.

Yeah, I support the President, but that was embarrassing.???

Agree, it's more along the lines of: (1) I looked into his soul, (2) reset button, (3) the 90's called and they want their foreign policy back, (4) tell Vladimir I will have more flexibility after the election

We’d say Trump’s presser ranks somewhere below each and every one of those. It wasn’t good, but come on — diplomacy isn’t always pretty.
Yeah well the media actually allowed for diplomacy between the two.
Fun fact: Gorbachev and all the other Russian and Soviet leaders tried to influence US elections. Who knew! pic.twitter.com/p8Jv4U6Pma

And we’re old enough to remember that the American media loved Mikhail Gorbachev — man, did they fawn over that guy. We don’t think they’d have a problem with Putin either had Hillary won, either.
