Talia Lavin has Twitter’s coveted blue checkmark, so we’ll take her at her word that she’s a fact-checker at The New Yorker. We’re not so sure, though, that she understands guns as well as she claims.
Her tweets would certainly please Adam Weinstein, who lamented in The Washington Post the poor gun control activist who’s been “gunsplained”; that is, “harangued with the pedantry of the more-credible-than-thou firearms owner” who actually knows the difference between a clip and a magazine.
Things kicked off Tuesday as The Federalist’s Sean Davis watched Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg being grilled by the Senate:

Makes sense to us, but it seems to have triggered Lavin.
they're tubes that shoot people sean
— Talia Lavin (@chick_in_kiev) April 11, 2018
you put little metal bits in the tube and they go fast to destroy people and things. its not that complicated
— Talia Lavin (@chick_in_kiev) April 11, 2018
Yeah, but there are some differences; there are some tubes that fire a little metal bit every time you pull what’s called the trigger, and then there’s whatever Chelsea Handler’s armed security apparently carries; muskets or something.
The irony here lol. Guy points out liberals are painfully uninformed about guns. You respond calling them tubes that shoot people. I prefer rooty-tooty-point-and-shooty myself.

they're metal tubes that shoot smaller metal tubes at things. i understand guns
— Talia Lavin (@chick_in_kiev) April 11, 2018
So which metal tubes should we ban?
— ThirstyMayor (@thethirstymayor) April 11, 2018
all of them but the ones that shoot fastest first
— Talia Lavin (@chick_in_kiev) April 11, 2018
Wait: does she mean the tubes that can fire more little metal bits in less time, or is she referring to MSNBC’s hot take on the velocity of bullets fired from an AR-15 as opposed to a handgun?
Automatic weapons have been illegal for 30 years. Semi-autos fire as fast as you can pull the trigger so their speed varies from user to user so that standard can't be used in enforceable legislation actionable. This convo is everything wrong with the gun debate.

if it goes BOOM and kills people i want it banned and also to take them from you end of conversation bye enjoy your very important tubes xoxo
— Talia Lavin (@chick_in_kiev) April 11, 2018
Sadly, that wasn’t the end of the thread, but frankly we can’t take any more and feel a strong need to hit the range.
What about the fast ones that put meat in my freezer?
