President Trump met with a number of Republican and Democratic members of Congress at the White House Wednesday to address school shootings after the Parkland, Fla., massacre, and as Twitchy reported, Trump managed to say some things that really must have pleased Democrats in the meeting. “Take the guns first, go through due process second?” Really?
As if that weren’t enough to send up red flags for conservatives, Trump also told Rep. Steve Scalise that carried conceal across state lines would never get passed if added to whatever gun control bill they’re currently hashing out.

Trump now breaks with the House GOP/NRA. "If you add concealed/carry to this, you'll never get it passed," he tells Scalise. That was included as part of the House's Fix NICS bill

Donald Trump straight up shutting down a GOP proposal to extend conceal-carry laws across state lines. Steve Scalise argues it’ll increase safety, Trump says it’ll never pass so move on.

Wow. Scalise just described Fix NICS Act, which adds background check enforcement AND concealed carry reciprocity over state lines.

Scalise takes another run at reciprocity. Trump throws cold water on it.

What?
And….Trump just killed concealed carry reciprocity when Scalise pitches it.
Obama nods in agreement again.

Reminder: After Sandy Hook concealed carry reciprocity, although it failed, received more votes than Feinstein’s gun control bill banning a series of semi-automatic firearms/magazines https://t.co/i7meh7hlL4

WHAT THE HELL.
Dear @realDonaldTrump stop knee-capping a necessary policy. https://t.co/eQWptgT4dM

Well, ok then. If Trump wants to win again in 2020, he doesn't need to do crap like this. https://t.co/PCOg6B8Neg

That is BS. He seems open to all kinds of leftist crap but not that. https://t.co/QjGlBtxeTg

Keep in mind, though, that Trump said “not in this bill,” not “never” — not that we’d prefer very much that it be considered as part of this bill.
Let's be fair here – Trump also said to Scalise "I am with you – but let it be a separate bill."
Thinking ti should be a separate bill does not mean he doesn't or won't support it.

But seriously, check out the body language on gun-grabber Dianne Feinstein at the beginning of this clip, before Scalise gets to raise his point. At least Trump made some Democrats very happy today.
This exchange is just, wow.
KLOBUCHAR: We need domestic violence check in background check.
TRUMP: "I'm all for it."
CORNYN (winking): Let's let Steve Scalise speak.
SCALISE: What about adding concealed carry reciprocity to the bill?
TRUMP: Not in this bill. pic.twitter.com/RFtkn6jG6f
