As Twitchy reported earlier, the New York Times editorial board took the unprecedented step Wednesday of tweeting the phone numbers of key senators and telling readers to call and encourage them to oppose the GOP’s tax bill. This was just one of several tweets:
Any temporary tax cuts for the middle class would be more than offset by the higher cost of health insurance — a good reason to vote against the tax bill. https://t.co/oSSXZ7H1H3 Tell your senators today: https://t.co/0AtZRQGvM5 #thetaxbillhurts pic.twitter.com/jqjW6cFbuJ

Pretty remarkable move by the NYT editorial board to go into all out campaign mode… https://t.co/IpraGbNeuv

As David Harsanyi wrote at The Federalist, the Times editorial board “was indistinguishable from any of the well-funded partisan groups it whines about in editorials all the time.”
However, the Times’ Vikas Bajaj insisted the newspaper’s editorial board was just doing what it always does: advocating for a policy it agreed with.

NYT crossed the rubicon today.
It finally openly does what those to the right-of-center have known all along: advocate for leftist policies.
There’s no “we’re not biased” BS anymore. https://t.co/GIOUEfcBSd

No, that wasn't what you did today you hack.
That wasn't advocacy, it was activism.
If only there were some curriculum you could all go through that would teach you journalistic ethics and the actual meaning of words. https://t.co/Kj5S9WILwL

Remember: Editorial boards including NYTimes advocated for McCain-Feingold which limits how much parties and candidates can engage in this type of speech https://t.co/POGPUJQNH2

This unified GOPers more than anything today, but it made your paper into a full blown partisan outlet today. Congrats. https://t.co/Y3uQ8aVSus
