As some predicted, the resignation of Seattle’s mayor over a growing pile of child sex abuse allegations turned out to a short-lived news story, while a “like” for a porn account on Sen. Ted Cruz’s Twitter feed enjoyed a second day of coverage Wednesday, to the point where CNN’s Dana Bash asked Cruz about sex toys during a sit-down interview.

In a moment of clarity, HuffPost reporter Elise Foley noted that the attention being given to Cruz’s Twitter feed was deeply dumb.

I for one love that progressive media are now the sexual scolds https://t.co/FsOA3AXfSe

No way, this is hard-hitting stuff. Tell your colleagues to keep up the great work! https://t.co/uXGun1R9w8

But was Foley correct in her assessment? Or does a “like” really deserve two or more days of media coverage? It does if the senator in question is a Republican, unlike the mayor of Seattle.
Hillary Clinton would argue if people ignored Anthony Weiner, she would be president…

Someone please explain that to Jimmy Kimmel using small words, please.
Its just so appropriate to a least mention it when it seems to contadict the persona of someone who is always so selfrighteous. And ask why?

NOT when you act like greater than thou.. Like https://t.co/mmGqwDoJzq likey

The issue isn't porn – it's his hypocrisy. Hypocrisy deserves to be reported and discussed.
— Joe Fisch (@joefischCA) September 14, 2017
It would not be a big deal except he is a member of the "family values party, so his hypocrisy is newsworthy.
— Bruce Tibbitts (@bwtibbitts) September 14, 2017
Ah, so if you’re not in the “family values” party and a younger cousin accuses you, a city mayor, of sexually molesting him as a child, there’s no hypocrisy and no story. Got it.
For a person who identifies as LGBT & felt the restrictions supported by @tedcruz & @gop , you might feel this is a very significant topic

Not really-it shows a whole lot of hypocrisy on behalf of a very prominent moralizing politician
— hj (@brooklynpatsfan) September 13, 2017
Cruz is a hypocrite. Hold him responsible and don't give him a pass.

Yeah, keep up the insightful reporting, CNN and company.
