Renewed push behind SHARE Act revives myths about gun 'silencers,' death wishes; Dana Loesch schools

Politico reports Tuesday that Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) have revived his “controversial” push to pass the Sportsmen Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act, which would make it easier for gun owners to purchase noise suppressors, better but less accurately known as “silencers.”

It appears that the talking points favored by Democrats who oppose the legislation have sunk in with the public, or vice versa.

For example, Sen. Chris Murphy has accused the NRA of trying to get rid of what he calls an “important gun safety feature” — the bang a firearm makes when you pull the trigger. Meanwhile, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand argued that witnesses to a murder might not hear the gunshot, making it more difficult for police to track down the shooter.

One more time: silencers do not make guns “silent.” People seem to be hard of hearing when it comes to gun facts.

Speaking of, it’s Everytown for Gun Safety … which doesn’t like the idea of making guns safer when it comes to legal gun owners and their hearing.

No one needs a silencer, or only thugs need silencers … make up your minds!

Hey, look, a death wish:

Politico reports:

Under the 1934 National Firearms Act, silencers — also known as suppressors — are treated similarly to machine guns or explosives. The waiting time to purchase such devices is far longer than for handguns or other weapons, as much as nine months or more. Buyers must submit fingerprints and a photograph in order to purchase a silencer, and federal law enforcement agencies keep a record of who buys the devices. There is also a $200 transfer tax on silencers.

Whoever came up with the term “silencer” is probably the same person who decided children of illegal immigrants are all “dreamers.”
