After 3-year wait, Sharyl Attkisson's request for information on computer intrusions 'provides virtually nothing'

As Twitchy noted Sunday, the media is hanging on breathlessly for some sort of bombshell proving collusion between the Donald Trump campaign and the Russians, even though after months of investigation, House Intelligence Committee ranking member Rep. Adam Schiff still can’t say “anything definitively at this point.”

Was the 2016 election hacked by the Russians or wasn’t it?

Step back quite a few years, then, and imagine how investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson must feel as she continues to struggle with Fast and Furious and allegations that she was hacked by the administration that claims to have left office scandal-free.

In the summer of 2013, Attkisson tweeted that a cyber security firm hired by CBS News determined through forensic analysis that her computer had been accessed by an unauthorized, external, unknown party on multiple occasions in late 2012.

Fast-forward to 2017, and Attkisson is just now receiving responses to Freedom of Information Act requests filed in connection with the computer intrusions.

On Sunday, Attkisson posted to her website an update on her lawsuit against the government:

It reads, in part:

An independent forensic computer analyst hired by CBS subsequently reported finding evidence on both Ms. Attkisson’s work-issued laptop computer and her family’s desktop computer of “a coordinated, highly-skilled series of actions and attacks directed at the operation of the computers.” Computer forensic analysis also indicated that remote actions were taken in December 2012 to remove the evidence of the electronic infiltration and surveillance from Ms. Attkisson’s computers and other home electronic equipment.

Additionally, in December 2012, a person with government intelligence experience conducted an inspection of the exterior of the Attkissons’ Virginia home. That investigator discovered an extra Verizon FiOS fiber optics line. Soon thereafter, after a Verizon technician was instructed by Ms. Attkisson to leave the extra cable at the home, the cable disappeared, and the Attkissons were unable to determine what happened to it.
