TO THE RESCUE: Jill Stein, Green Party to file for recounts where votes cast on 'proven hack-prone machines'

Some people were really, really elated  to hear Wednesday that Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein is preparing to request recounts in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania in hopes of tipping the Electoral College in favor of Hillary Clinton.

The news appears to follow a (quickly debunked) recommendation by a group of computer scientists that the Clinton campaign request an audit of the vote in those three states due to evidence that electronic voting machines were likely hacked.

Stein isn’t saying that the machines were hacked; rather, her claim is that votes were cast on “proven hack-prone machines.”

The Guardian notes that the recount effort will cost the Green Party $2 million or so and that Stein has launched an online fundraising page.

A couple million dollars to correct a tiny vote shift and save the country seems like a bargain — could it really be that easy?
