Important side note: Bill Nye's new science talk show on Netflix 'will deal in facts'

It appears that former television host Bill Nye will be dropping the “former” pretty soon, as he’ll be hosting a talk show on Netflix beginning next year. Apparently a lot of kids who grew up watching “Bill Nye the Science Guy” are pretty excited about the announcement of “Bill Nye Saves the World,” sending Nye’s name trending on Twitter Wednesday.

Our favorite tweet announcing Nye’s new show comes from Mashable, which notes that — get this — “the science talk show will deal in facts.”

There’s no denying that a lot of children of the ’90s grew up watching Bill Nye, but in a fortunate development for the field of science, plenty of adults out there today managed to both grow up and outgrow Bill Nye in the decades that have passed since.

Sure, everyone knows by now that “science guy” Nye holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering, but he’s reliably liberal on every topic from climate change to abortion to, well, climate change. No wonder he’s a White House favorite.

Netflix will certainly hype his talk show as legitimate scientific inquiry; hopefully there will be a studio audience to cheer when the “Applause” sign lights up, which is practically as good as actually publishing original research in a peer-reviewed journal.

He really does that:

Listen, we didn’t want to go nuclear, but people need to get it through their heads that “The Science Guy” is a character developed by a wannabe stand-up comic.
