Bob Geldof reminds March for Europe protesters they live in a democracy (that voted to leave the EU)

Tens of thousands turned out Saturday in London for the “March for Europe,” where they organized to protest the millions who turned out to vote for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union.

Bob Geldof, probably best known for co-writing the charity song “Do They Know It’s Christmas” and organizing the Live Aid concert to fight famine in Ethiopia, was a featured speaker at the protest, and reminded the marchers that they live in a democracy.

Maybe he should had added that in a democracy, the side with more votes wins — just to clarify.

Sadly, democracy wasn’t the only concept that took a beating at the massive protest. Jarvis Cocker, not really known in the U.S. for anything but well known in the U.K. as lead singer of the band Pulp, gave the assembled masses a lesson in geography via a prerecorded message.
