Indiana teen arrested after researching terror targets, pledging allegiance to [omitted]

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest on CNN Tuesday made clear that the administration is staying in lockstep with the president’s lead, and that “radical Islam” is nothing more than a political talking point, and certainly not a counterterrorism strategy.

Someone didn’t get the memo, as ABC News is reporting Tuesday night that a U.S. attorney is accusing an 18-year-old Indiana man of being radicalized by ISIL and researching potential terror targets. What good, exactly, does it do to make reference to the young man’s embrace of, well, you know.

ABC News reports that Akram Musleh appeared on the FBI’s radar in 2013, when high school officials worked with the FBI to dissuade him from engaging in “radical extremism.” (Please excuse the GOP talking point; that’s just how the article reads.)

Agents monitored Musleh on social media, where “he pledged his allegiance” to [omitted], which appears to be an offshoot of ISIS, according to the FBI’s recently released transcript of Orlando shooter Omar Mateen’s 911 call. Mateen himself called 911 during his killing spree in order to publicly pledge his allegiance to [omitted] as well.

Apparently the GOP refused to sell Musleh one of its assault rifles, so he instead went shopping for pressure cookers, according to an FBI agent who tracked him into a Walmart store. The FBI finally moved in Tuesday as Musleh attempted to make good on his plan to travel to Libya via Morocco and join up with ISIS forces.

So the Justice Department says that, if convicted, Musleh faces up to 20 years in prison? What happened to Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s belief that unity and love are the most effective response to terror?
