This is curious. As Twitchy noted earlier, CNN reported Thursday morning that suspicious staff members of an Orlando gun store alerted police to nightclub shooter Omar Mateen weeks ago, after he had asked to purchase heavy body armor.

By Thursday night, though, CNN’s Erin Burnett reported that the FBI had changed its tune, saying it had “no comment” on reports that the gun shop had called to alert authorities after first denying it had received any such call.

Perhaps the FBI has decided it’s best to withhold any comment on the lead-up to the nightclub massacre until the government has a better handle on “whatever the killer’s motive was.”
