“Heavily edited.” That’s been the go-to excuse of corrupt progressives who’ve been caught on video, all the way from James O’Keefe’s ACORN sting operation to undercover footage of Planned Parenthood negotiating the price of body parts harvested from aborted fetuses.
The Planned Parenthood videos, for example, were so “heavily edited” that the organization commissioned a firm to perform a frame-by-frame forensic analysis to uncover those flagrantly obvious cuts.
So it’s no surprise to learn that EPIX, the cable network airing Katie Couric’s documentary, “Under the Gun,” isn’t concerned about the discovery of manipulated audio. Just watch it and decide for yourself how you feel.

“Truth is the ultimate weapon.” Cute.

“You should watch this video that we deceptively edited, and make up your mind.” How?

But … it’s a polarizing issue, and EPIX is simply trying to start a dialogue — if necessary, by airing deceptively edited dialogue.
Epix says it stands by @katiecouric's deceptively edited gun documentary https://t.co/hjY7ePE85Q

In which @EpixHD disgraces itself by standing behind @katiecouric’s mendacity. https://t.co/EWAfTY4J0j pic.twitter.com/5PrKbAFeui

Stephen Gutowski reports in the Washington Free Beacon:
Couric can be heard in the interview asking activists from the [Virginia Citizens Defense League], “If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?”
The documentary then shows the activists sitting silently for nine awkward seconds, unable to provide an answer. It then cuts to the next scene.
…
However, raw audio of the interview between Katie Couric and the activists provided to the Washington Free Beacon shows the scene was deceptively edited. Instead of silence, Couric’s question is met immediately with answers from the activists.
Michael Moore used a similar technique with the late Charleton Heston in his critically acclaimed “Bowling for Columbine.” Couric, of course, was a long-time employee of NBC, the network that famously rigged a pickup with an incendiary device in its report on exploding gas tanks, so she’s learned from the best. But now her gun documentary is blowing up in her face.
This is absolutely disgusting. Katie Couric edited out her interviewees’ (cogent) answers to make them look stupid. https://t.co/EWAfTY4J0j

But sure, we’ll definitely sign on to your preferred gun control bills, Katie. I’m sure you’re all on the level. https://t.co/gWrt7Z5qqZ

It is insane conservatives can't even expect the simplest forms of integrity from national journalists like @katiecouric.

Katie Couric flagrantly lies. The channel stands behind her. Next up, progressives wonder aloud, “why don’t gun owners trust us?”

But wait … the director can explain.
Couric's director says she added "a pause for the viewer to have a moment to consider this important question before presenting the facts"

Add the pause, but apparently neglected to include the answers to her questions. Interesting.
— Bert Hyman (@berthyman) May 25, 2016
@NoahCRothman so she personally added the pause?

that's an abject and demonstrable lie. Have @stephsoechtig tell another one. #Gungate

When the lies are this thin, it just shows how little they care.

Here’s the video clip so you can decide for yourself if Couric was just doing viewers a favor by providing some space to think.
