Politico is reporting today that the Boston Globe isn’t content with publishing an editorial calling for the GOP to nominate a candidate “like Romney or Ryan” in order to prevent Donald Trump from reaching the White House — the newspaper will reportedly publish a fake “front page” (inside the newspaper), dated April 9, 2017, with headlines drawn from an imaginary Trump presidency.

Curfews extended? Riots continue? Does that mean the ones in Ferguson and Baltimore flare up again, or are these new riots? And when did deportations end? President Obama has done his best to limit deportations to “criminal aliens” (those who broke the law by entering the country illegally and then committed additional crimes while here), but tens of thousands are deported every year. (Some more than once.)
It’s just a work of satire, though — let’s leave the actual riots out of this. Politico reports:
The main story includes mentions of an Attorney General Chris Christie, and Fox News’ Megyn Kelly tweeting from a bar because she’s been placed on a White House black list.
Other stories on the fake front page include “U.S. soldiers refuse orders to kill ISIS families” and details such as new libel laws targeting “absolute scum” in the press. Another story is about how Trump had offended the Chinese first lady by naming his new dog after her.
An editor’s note at the bottom of the page explains why the paper chose to create it.
“This is Donald Trump’s America. What you read on this page is what might happen if the GOP frontrunner can put his ideas into practice, his words into action. Many Americans might find this vision appealing, but the Globe’s editorial board finds it deeply troubling,” the editor’s note reads.
So Megyn Kelly’s been blacklisted, but is Trump also reading her emails and tracking her parents’ phone calls? Sorry … nostalgia for the Obama years keeps getting the better of us.
The Boston Globe is free to print whatever it wants, but why the need to resort to this degree of satire when you can publish a fact-based editorial every single day if you like?

@lrozen @Hadas_Gold This is not an April Fool's redux, is it?

@gaylelemmon @Hadas_Gold seems unusually brave and clever

Brave and clever and desperate.
@Hadas_Gold I assume they'll publish a fake front page using every stereotype imaginable for a Hillary presidency next? @politico

Today’s top story: President Hillary pardons self, sets up private email server in Oval Office.
Also worth noting is that the Globe hasn’t prepared a slate of fake President Cruz stories, though he’s possibly “even more dangerous.”
The editorial ends with a warning that Sen. Ted Cruz, who is currently rallying Republicans behind him as the only candidate who could stop Trump from securing the GOP nomination, could be even more dangerous.
. @BostonGlobe's stop Trump editorial calls on GOP to reject candidates, nominate man "like Romney or Ryan" on floorhttps://t.co/KWpodKZhMm
