#HarfordStrong: Community shows support for two deputies gunned down last week

If you were offended like we were today at the sight of the Denver Fallen Officers Memorial again vandalized with splashes of red paint, consider this post a sedative. You might remember that two deputies were killed in Abingdon, Md., last Thursday when 68-year-old David Brian Evans allegedly shot Senior Deputy Patrick Dailey in a Panera restaurant and Senior Deputy Mark Logsdon in shootout nearby.

The Associated Press reports today that Evans, who was shot and killed in the shootout, was wanted for questioning in the shooting of his ex-wife in 1996, but detectives hadn’t been able to find him in the 20 years since.

The community of Harford County as well as law enforcement from around the area have gathered in support of the two deputies, with #HarfordStrong accompanying many of the tweets.

We had missed this photo before, which obviously was taken before news of the deputies’ deaths was reported.

The viewing for Daily is being held today.

This shot was taken last week before the snow started flying.

Speaking of, it appears that President Obama hasn’t responded to Carroll County Maryland Sheriff James T. DeWees’ open letter asking him to publicly acknowledge the deputies’ sacrifice.
