'I used to like you': Demi Lovato stumps for Hillary, but young fans are feeling the Bern

We’re going to risk stereotyping here, but as presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (age 74) releases his latest campaign ad set to Simon and Garfunkel’s “America” (released in 1968), supporters of Hillary Clinton (68) are at a campaign rally in Iowa City watching Demi Lovato perform her single, “Confident” (released in 2015). But then again, it wasn’t baby boomers who spread the #BernieIsBae hashtag.

There’s no question that Hillary Clinton is trying her best to recruit young entertainers who fit the millennials’ definition of feminism. (It’s for that reason the New York Times reported that Lena Dunham was having trouble reconciling her support for fierce feminist Clinton with her well-known past as her husband’s enabler.)

In October, Katy Perry performed at a Clinton rally in Des Moines, Iowa, with a setlist that included both “America the Beautiful” and alleged Clinton theme song, “Roar.” Performing tonight in Iowa City: Demi Lovato.

The Clinton camp doesn’t want them too informed, though.

Uh oh. No sale there.

You think?

Get it? Lovato’s album and single are called “Confident.” There’s no doubt Clinton is confident having gotten away with so many scandals; just don’t be ridiculous and call her “tougher than anyone on the planet.”
