At today’s press briefing, White House press secretary Josh Earnest dismissed yesterday’s 240-181 vote by the House to repeal Obamacare by telling a reporter that it accomplished “nothing.”
So what did Congress accomplish by repealing the Affordable Care Act for the more than 50th time? Nothing. https://t.co/vHqrlH31zo
— J Earnest (Archived) (@PressSec44) January 7, 2016
Neither Speaker Paul Ryan nor any of the Republicans who at last managed to land legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act on the president’s desk were under any illusion that he would sign it, another fact Earnest managed to rub in.
.@PressSec says it's not an imposition for @POTUS to veto the Republican bill to repeal #Obamacare. "Stroke of a pen," he said

Plenty of President Obama’s supporters agreed that the GOP had accomplished nothing but waste time and tax dollars, but even though the president is making more and more use of that pen and phone of his, some saw a bright side.
Speaker Ryan: we've shown that with a Republican president there's a clear path to repeal of Obamacare without 60 votes in the Senate

They also managed to remind the president (and inform the next president) that universal health care isn’t universally wanted and never was — and that Americans are getting weary of being governed by the “stroke of a pen.” Nothing?

@PressSec @WhiteHouse Congress accomplished the will of We The People. POTUS doesn't seem to understand this.

@PressSec @WhiteHouse @SpeakerRyan From a Medicare Advantage member whose copays and premiums have skyrocketed, I'm glad they did

@PressSec @WhiteHouse deductibles up, coverage down, state run coops closing, costs rising … they accomplished showing where they stand
— Old School MP (@DIPGparent) January 7, 2016
@PressSec @WhiteHouse once again, this administration goes against the will of the people
— Old School MP (@DIPGparent) January 7, 2016
@PressSec When the Peoples' elected reps vote to do something 50 times, that says something about the will of the People. Moron.

@PressSec @WhiteHouse Actually we put it on record for you smug assholes that you do not have the will of the governed.
