Hillary Clinton gets to dodge choice between 'All Lives Matter' and 'Black Lives Matter'

The Black Lives Matter movement has made it clear that “All Lives Matter” is not an acceptable substitute. Martin O’Malley, one of the five white faces on CNN’s debate stage Tuesday night, tried to calm an angry crowd at Netroots Nation this summer by saying that all lives matter and soon found himself apologizing for his “gaffe.”

Debate moderator Anderson Cooper did bring up race, but rather than asking a question himself, he for no good reason directed the audience to Don Lemon, who brought up a young black man on a video feed to ask, “All Lives Matter or Black Lives Matter?” Bernie Sanders was up first and quickly answered, “Black lives matter.”

DeRay Mckesson, the Black Lives Matter leader who has recently been spending his time meeting with Democrat presidential candidates to push the Campaign Zero initiative, noticed that Cooper then passed a different question to Hillary Clinton.
