You know Donald Trump is having an influence on the GOP primaries when “low energy” becomes a legitimate concern of all the presidential candidates. Jeb Bush is a nice guy, Trump says, but he’s a “low energy guy.”
Bush tackled the accusation head-on this Wednesday, insisting that he worked 80-hour weeks as governor of Florida and has the energy to serve. Now it’s Ben Carson’s turn to fight criticism that he’s also a low energy guy.
Donald Trump slams Ben Carson in Iowa: “I don’t think Ben has the energy” to be president http://t.co/XyPqFQ1Evx

The National Journal’s Ron Fournier seems to think that Carson, a neurosurgeon, is immune from such criticism.
There are no low-energy neurosurgeons. https://t.co/9jQ4h7QAix

@ron_fournier what does this even mean?
— Patrick Aldrich (@AldrichPatrick) September 13, 2015
No. Really: What everyone wants in a surgeon who cuts into baby brains is Trumpian manic hyperactivity and ADD. https://t.co/KGvgqffDWq

@BuzzFeedAndrew Wouldn't you prefer a low-energy neurosurgeon? Like, if I was having brain surgery and the doc was all hyper… no thanks.
— Bryan Florkiewicz (@bryanflork) September 13, 2015
@ron_fournier @washingtonpost – More likely neurosurgeons are low-energy and highly focused. No hyperactive surgeon will cut into me.

Trump confuses a lack of bombast for being low energy. @ron_fournier

@joegarofoli @debrajsaunders @realDonaldTrump @RealBenCarson Low energy or calm under pressure, mature in his faith, and ethical?
