Politico reported earlier this month that Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), chairman of the health subcommittee on the Energy and Commerce Committee, plans to subpoena Dr. Deborah Nucatola, featured in the first undercover video released by the Center for Medical Progress, unless Planned Parenthood changes its position on letting committee staffers interview her before the House leaves for August recess.
Several state governors have announced their own plans to investigate charges of organ harvesting by Planned Parenthood, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, and that investigation is underway.
Texas has launched criminal & civil investigations into Planned Parenthood for alleged selling of baby body parts. #txlege #tcot @TexasGOP

Note Abbott’s specific use of the words “baby body parts” — a dig at Wendy Davis, maybe, who tweeted less that an hour earlier that those words are “clearly part of the spinmeister script”?
@GregAbbott_TX @TexasGOP Thank you, Governor Abbott; for doing the only conscionable thing and standing up for the unborn.

A lawyer for Planned Parenthood confirmed the organization has been served with a subpoena.

The Texas Tribune (which notes in a disclaimer that Planned Parenthood was a corporate sponsor in 2011) reports that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton confirmed today that he had gained possession of “hours of recordings” involving a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas. Paxton and other investigators said that they had also recently toured a Planned Parenthood facility in Houston, where they witnessed the handling of fetal remains.
“The true abomination in all this is the institution of abortion,” Paxton told the committee. “Even the languages that they use — ‘product of conception’ — betrays a profound denial of humanity.”
Planned Parenthood representatives said they would not testify in person before the committee but would instead submit their testimony in writing.
PP will not be testifying today and @DrSchwertner says it shows their "true colors" BUT here's why: #txlege pic.twitter.com/rQn8tPAsb7

Paxton estimates that the investigation will continue into next month.
Protesters? Of course.

And a suggestion:
Hi #txlege, I think @wendydavis should be investigated at this point as well.
