The beauty of Twitter is that even we don’t have to reward Gawker with a click to find out just what garbage it’s serving its readers that has them so appalled tonight. Journalists in particular are calling out the site for going well beyond the line, and even Gawker senior writer Adam Weinstein has tweeted that he had no part in the piece, nor would he have run it.

@AdamWeinstein And yet you still work at Gawker and report to the guy who ran this story.
— Ken Archer (@kenarchersf) July 17, 2015
@AdamWeinstein did you ask them not to run it? I mean, it has absolutely no news value
— CindyLouGibletGravy (@cindynorth1) July 17, 2015
@AdamWeinstein This is evil, and the money they made from it pays your salary. The money you make for them, funds shit like this.

@AdamWeinstein you've helped Gawker become the cesspool that it is. Don't think you can just wash your hands now.

Speaking of the writer:
conde nast's CFO — the brother of timothy geithner — tried to hire a gay porn star for a night of sex. receipts: http://t.co/JD3IBjcsqx
— jord (@jordansarge) July 17, 2015
To be clear: Geithner not a public figure. Closeted gay. Didn't have affair – backed out. So blackmailer goes to Gawker. Gawker cooperates.

It would have been nice if the content of the Planned Parenthood video had managed to elicit this much disgust from reporters, but at least here they have demonstrated they do possess a basic sense of right and wrong.
I dont say this lightly: This is repugnant, shameful journalism @jordansarge.

There's no excuse for the Gawker piece, which I won't link to. It's disgraceful, and it shouldn't be referred to as journalism.
— Sabrina Siddiqui (@SabrinaSiddiqui) July 17, 2015
what the goddamn hell, Gawker. Seriously. Dude tries a shake down of a closet case, then randomly outs him. https://t.co/FqNkxXKMNI

Those who can, report the news. Those who can't, write gossip columns. Those with no lives or consciences, write for Gawker.
— Julia Kite (@juliakite) July 17, 2015
Dont read Gawker much as it is. But that's the end of it for me.
— Ben White (@morningmoneyben) July 17, 2015
.@Gawker This was the last straw. I'm not reading Gawker anymore. The editors and Jordan Sargent should be ashamed of themselves.
— Eric D. Snider (@EricDSnider) July 17, 2015
I've never seen more opprobrium heaped on a reporter than what @jordansarge @gawker is getting. And I've never seen anyone deserve it more

Why did Gawker cooperate w/blackmailer? Some say it was for clicks, but I have a more elegant thesis: it's b/c they're rotten human beings.
— The Nats Won The World Series (@EsotericCD) July 17, 2015
Being an awful human being is basically a requirement to work at Gawker.

Time for a national conversation about Gawker
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) July 17, 2015
Stop clicking. Unfollow their writers. Ignore.

(1) Gawker is horrible.
(2) So are people who read Gawker.
(3) This atrocity will not deter anyone who reads Gawker from reading Gawker.— Gabriel Malor (@gabrielmalor) July 17, 2015
P.S. A note to the editors: releasing a video explaining that Gawker has actually been a conservative website all this time in’t going to fly.
