Joel McHale, best known for “The Soup” and “Community,” is hosting tonight’s ESPY awards and kicked off the broadcast with a hit-and-miss monologue which included jokes about the Washington Redskins’ name, the rape allegations against Bill Cosby, and Donald Trump deporting jockey Victor Espinoza to Mexico.
One gag, though, required a prop that made some people laugh and others gag. The Giants’ Jason Pierre-Paul, who recently had a finger amputated after an Independence Day weekend fireworks accident, was announced as being in the audience as the camera cut to this:
