It was the biggest surprise for the White House press pool since President Obama left them behind without warning following a round of golf at Andrews Air Force Base. Reporters this morning were told to pack into the press vans for a 70 minute trip to a mystery destination. What was the big secret? Drum roll, please …
It's golf. After an hour and 20 mins drive from the WH, Pres Obama is at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, MD,.

Pres. Obama is golfing today in Baltimore County – Caves Valley Golf Club. Very odd to drive that far since he usually goes to AAFB.

@EmilyMiller He gets to inconvenience more people this way. Something he seems to enjoy.

Even the president needs to shake things up now and then.
It's Pres Obama's first time playing at Caves Valley Golf Club. After 87 rounds at @AndrewsAirForce, he's looking for a change of pace.

@markknoller @jamestaranto @AndrewsAirForce How wonderful. Is playing golf the change of pace? Not.

@markknoller @BarackObama @POTUS couldn't go or send rep to Kate Steinle's funeral, but has time for fucking golf. #priorities

Pres Obama's golf partners on this 80° and sunny day are WH aides Joe Paulsen
and Marvin Nicholson & former campaign aide Mitch Stewart.— Mark Knoller (@markknoller) July 11, 2015
Caves Valley is a privately-owned golf club of 600 members on 962 acres, some 54 miles from DC. It's closer to Baltimore.

Maybe he’ll visit Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake while he’s in the area and see if the violence has settled down after this week’s shakeup at City Hall.

Update:
Looks like the press pool is going to be hanging around the van for quite a bit longer.
18's not enough. Press pool told Pres Obama playing another 9 at Caves Valley.
