We learned earlier today that Fox News has officially dropped Bob Beckel, former co-host of “The Five,” from its roster of talent, and we were frightened by the idea that Anthony Weiner wanted to fill the vacant position, perhaps even enough to wear pants. It’s not that much of a stretch, considering the same Geraldo Rivera who traumatized Twitter with a near-nude selfie is one of Beckel’s rotating substitutes, along with Juan Williams.
According to Politico, Fox News issued a terse statement saying, “We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldn’t hold The Five hostage to one man’s personal issues. He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him.”
Beckel, who rarely tweeted, took to Twitter tonight to express his feelings on the split.
I am no longer on The Five or with Fox. Fox statement today baffles me. I will respond in the appropriate forum. I will miss you all.

I just can't understand the anger in Fox statement. I was healing from major back surgery i could not walk, I took no advantage I got well

Fox has been good to especially when I was healing. I guess I'll never understand their anger It is all so very sad

Pretty humble words from a man who could be so very obnoxious and misogynistic on air. This is the man, after all, who said of Twitchy’s founder, “If I was Juan Williams, I’d wake up next to Michelle Malkin with a shotgun.”
@RobertGBeckel Well Bob as a conservative I often disagreed with you but I pray for your good health and hope you have a happy life.

@RobertGBeckel I never agreed with your politics but I appreciated your views on addiction & fatherhood. I wish you well Bob.
