Finger-pointing: Mayor Bill de Blasio tells EU to 'get serious' about Libyan refugees

The world faced some tragic and disturbing images Sunday as a ship from Libya carrying 950 people sank in the Mediterranean Sea. That horror closely followed the release of a new ISIS video purporting to show the beheading of 30 Ethiopian Christians in Libya.

It wasn’t long before people started pointing fingers. Sally Kohn, for example, placed the blame on harsh migration policies, while New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio urged the European Union to get serious about tackling the problem.

Breitbart’s Ben Shapiro isn’t above placing blame himself, although he makes a strong case that the contributions of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton helped make Libya the mess it is today.

Shapiro writes:

The problem of migration from Libya springs from the chaos that has filled that country in the wake of the US-led Western invasion of the country – a policy championed first and foremost by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Clinton pushed regime change in Libya, and pushed it hard.

After Qaddafi’s ouster, the country has turned into a haven for terrorists, from Al Qaeda to ISIS. Instead of facing up to Western responsibility for the chaos in Libya, however, the Obama administration has instead joined the chorus of Western leaders critiquing European immigration policy.
