Around two dozen suffer inhalation injuries at Twentynine Palms Marine Corps base; Updated

What’s being called an extinguisher explosion at the United States Marine Corps base in San Bernardino County is reported to have injured as many as two dozen people in a training exercise.

The USMC has issued a statement on the accident.

Twenty-two Marines sustained injures today while conducting training aboard the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Marines and sailors of 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, were participating in Integrated Training Exercise 2-15 when a fire extinguisher system located within their Assault Amphibious Vehicle inadvertently discharged.

Those requiring medical treatment are receiving care at local medical facilities and are currently in stable condition.
