Michael Bloomberg, who poured millions of his own money into Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the gun control group he helped found during a summit at Gracie Mansion, was back to talking about guns Friday night to a sold-out crowd at the Aspen Institute.
While Bloomberg’s talk touched on a number of subjects, tweeter @Popehat noticed something mentioned almost as an aside in the Aspen Times’ coverage of the event. Reporter Karl Herchenroeder noted that Bloomberg called for disarming young minority men in particular.
Bloomberg claimed that 95 percent of murders fall into a specific category: male, minority and between the ages of 15 and 25. Cities need to get guns out of this group’s hands and keep them alive, he said.
“These kids think they’re going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed,” Bloomberg said. “They just don’t have any long-term focus or anything. It’s a joke to have a gun. It’s a joke to pull a trigger.”

Time for another edition of, “What if a conservative had said that?”
Rich idiot Bloomberg has no idea that by calling for government to disarm minority males under 25, he's echoing southern white supremacists.

If a politician said this about anything other than guns, he’d be forced to recant and forever marked “racist.” pic.twitter.com/E5vdql2rbx

@charlescwcooke Funny how the Ku Klux Klan's program on gun control has suddenly become mainstream.

@Popehat @charlescwcooke Wait, did Bloomberg say young black men should not be allowed to have guns? Um… wow.

@Popehat @charlescwcooke – to be fair, it is not like the party affiliation from KKK to current gun-banners has changed

@charlescwcooke So the #gunsense crowd is promoting MB's racism.

If young minority males were disarmed, as Bloomberg evidently wishes, my local range would go out of business. http://t.co/dvHg2Jomsn

I am always clear that modern gun controllers are not typically motivated by race, as historical controllers were. Then Bloomberg says that.

The history here is extremely ugly. I wrote an NR cover story on it last year (paywall): http://t.co/2jC8OVSssg

Sure, he’s one guy. Maybe he’s an exception. But he’s the leading voice for gun control in America. The architect of Everytown, MAIG. Bad.
