'Get informed, not by reading the Huffington Post,' says president, after publishing piece in HuffPo

House Democrats met for a series of closed door meetings in Philadelphia Thursday to plan for the future after the devastating results of the 2014 midterm elections. As Twitchy reported, President Obama made an appearance Thursday night to rally the troops and promise them he’d be out there “every single day” trying to move his agenda forward.

“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” Obama had told GOP leaders in 2009. In an interesting twist on that theme, the president told the assembled House Democrats Thursday that they need to “get informed, not by reading the Huffington Post.”

Jennifer Bendery of the Huffington Post just happened to be covering the president’s remarks, making special note of the fact that the Huffington Post had just published President Obama’s “Blueprint for Middle-Class Economics” on the site this morning.

Just the president’s way of saying thank you, we guess. Political editor Sam Stein noted how Obama had taken another dig at the site in 2011.

A Democrat source in the room cleared things up by saying Obama was speaking strictly of trade issues.

As Twitchy noted, reporters were kicked out after the president’s remarks and had to glean whatever information they could from inside sources.
