New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick emerged for an “impromptu” news conference Saturday afternoon, saying that the Patriots had conducted an internal study on #DeflateGate in a controlled environment and decided there was no better time to announce the results.

Belichick says they've simulated the pregame process and showed that it raises the PSI by 1? http://t.co/nVJYagKnsf #DeflateGate

Patriots' Belichick: After learning more about process of football prep, team has "followed every rule to the letter" http://t.co/dkgnlfhNx3

This Patriots "study" was double blind and peer-reviewed with an appropriate sample size, I'm sure.
What a farce.

In short, Belichick seemed to blame the air pressure inside the footballs on “atmospheric conditions and the true equilibrium of the ball,” as well as the fact that each football has its own characteristics. “I’m not a scientist,” he admitted. “I’ve learned more than I’ve ever thought.”
#Belichick: "I'm not a scientist."
Could have fooled me with that rant on atmospheric pressure. #DeflateGate #Patriots

Coach Belichick said he's not a scientist, but he's explaining air pressure and atmospheric conditions on a football. Did I miss something?

Billlllllll Belichick, the science guy, BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL!

Patriots QBs were unable to tell the difference between footballs with one PSI variance, some couldn't tell 2 PSI difference, per Belichick.

Bottom Belichick line: No attempt to gain advantage, we played by the rules. Meaning: You're all inflating Deflate-gate
— HowardKurtz (@HowardKurtz) January 24, 2015
I'm lost on the point of this press conference. Is it just to reassure us that Bill Belichick can drone on and on? #DeflateGate #Patriots
— Ben Warwick (@BenCBS4) January 24, 2015
I can't take this anymore.
Belichick: "I've handled dozens of balls over the last week." #DeflateGate #Patriots
— Ben Warwick (@BenCBS4) January 24, 2015
Will someone at Gillette Stadium please tell Bill Belichick to stop talking about the rubbing process? #DeflateGate #Patriots
— Ben Warwick (@BenCBS4) January 24, 2015
There's no way Belichick talks this much to the press unless he's scared for his job and legacy.

The winning line of the rambling conference was Belichick’s reference to the 1992 movie “My Cousin Vinny.”
New England sports reporters scrambling to google "Mona Lisa Vito" discover brilliant My Cousin Vinny reference. #Belichick is a savant.
— Nate Rawlings (@NateRawlings) January 24, 2015
Wait, did Belichick just make a My Cousin Vinny reference? #yutes

Belichick should have dropped the mic after Mona Lisa Vito reference.

That’s that.
"This is the end of this subject for me for a long time." –Belichick on #DeflateGate. Probably not true.
