That tweet from 2013 shows just how far ahead of the curve Oprah Winfrey is; she managed to outrage the #BlackLivesMatter movement even before there was a #BlackLivesMatter movement. Her crime then? Tweeting about the OWN network’s comedy showcase “Herlarious” when the rest of America was reacting to the George Zimmerman verdict.
Man @Oprah just pissed me right the hell off. How dare you tweet about some fuck ass show right now. yes I'm that pissed.

Winfrey apologized for those tweets, but now has managed to piss off activists again with her comments in a People magazine interview.

“I think it’s wonderful to march and to protest and it’s wonderful to see all across the country, people doing it,” Winfrey told People. Of course she thinks it’s wonderful. Why, then, hasn’t the billionaire media mogul joined the marches?
Because she’s waiting for specific steps from “some kind of leadership” that the movement hasn’t yet produced. The thing is, the younger protesters in particular are proud of using social media to organize themselves and produce their own lists of demands.
Double facepalm!!! No, Oprah, no!!

So does @Oprah expect someone to raise their hand at Protest when they ask "who is your leader"? That messiah style of leadership is not us

Please direct @Oprah to read the posts under #YearOfResistance and #NewYearsRevolution if she is looking for leaders. We out here.

If @oprah doesn't see 'leadership' in Ferguson, it's cuz she's not really looking. It's grass-roots – she has to do work to see the teams

@Oprah What Kind Of Rock Have You Been Under The Past 4 Months #Ferguson #MikeBrown

Oprah has all the resources in the world. If she's seeking leadership then she needs to use her power to facilitate, fund, and market it.

Here's the ish @Oprah. You are the single most influential black woman in US (sorry Michelle). When you sell protests short the US listens.
— 5'7" Black Male (@absurdistwords) January 2, 2015
You've just legitimized countless detractors and critics without actually assessing the situation. @Oprah

Tell the truth y'all only respect @Oprah bcuz she rich. She only mean something to you if money mean something to you #Ferguson

@Oprah : I'm waiting on you to stop critiquing a movement that doesn't ascribe to the old strategies of beg, plead. I'm waiting on (1/3)
— RideOrDieCaptainLevi (@cookiebottom25) January 2, 2015
@Oprah you to be an advocate/mentor of the people doing, making demands as a unit with the same agenda. I'm waiting in you to help, (2/3)
— RideOrDieCaptainLevi (@cookiebottom25) January 2, 2015
@Oprah nurture the movement but based on your statements today. I say " Kick Rocks" b/c ma'am you're a disappointment!! (3/3)
— RideOrDieCaptainLevi (@cookiebottom25) January 2, 2015
. @oprah there are youth orgs set up and ready to roll .. How about some of the black elite sit at the table w/us and discuss our demands ?
— Tef Poe the ? (@TefPoe) January 2, 2015
Once again a Black 'celebrity' shows just how out of touch they are. So, while @oprah searches for an outdated leadership model, #weworkin.
— ashley yates (@brownblaze) January 2, 2015
To ask us to replicate the previous movement, is to ask us to be lazy in our activism. We do @Oprah a service by ignoring her request.
— AriDy (@aridynox) January 2, 2015
@Oprah ain't never did nothing for me & will never do anything for me . So am I mad ? Nawl … Not surprised one bit !
