The pundits considered it likely that the race for Louisiana Senate would head to a Dec. 6 runoff, and none of the candidates there reached the 50 percent threshold to avoid it. Despite her last-minute claim that Southern racism and sexism were to blame for her’s and President Obama’s lagging popularity in Louisiana, Sen. Mary Landrieu was popular enough to hold off Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy.

This election will stretch on until December: Louisiana senate race between Mary Landrieu (D) and Bill Cassidy (R) headed for Dec. 6 runoff

It doesn’t have to, does it? Maybe in December Landrieu can pursue her dream of being a keg stand assistant full-time, but until then, we’re hoping perhaps the candidates can settle things following Jonah Goldberg’s suggestion.
