It was March 2013 when Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper signed some of the country’s most comprehensive gun control measures into place, expanding background checks, imposing background check fees, and setting a 15-round limit on ammunition magazines. Hickenlooper was backed in that effort by Michael Bloomberg and his Mayors Against Illegal Guns, but the victory led to the recall of Colorado state Sen. president John Morse and Democrat state Sen. Angela Giron as well as the resignation of State sen. Evie Hudak.

No regrets? In October, Hickenlooper told the press that it was “probably not a bad idea” for Bloomberg and other out-of-state interests to stay out of the Hudak recall effort.
