Ellen DeGeneres’ famous Oscar night selfie racked up millions of retweets, but it also raked in the cash; phone maker Samsung donated a dollar to charity for every retweet. DeGeneres donated $1.5 million of the take to the Humane Society, which opposes seal hunting, a practice DeGeneres on her website calls “one of the most atrocious and inhumane acts against animals allowed by any government.”
The National Post reports that many of Canada’s Inuit are pushing back against that characterization by posting their own “sealfies.”

I am a very proud Canadian today. The men and women who still chose to hunt seals, get bullied a lot. Cheers to supporting them #Sealfie
