It’s no secret now that while President Obama might have talked about drawing a red line in Syria, what he was actually doing was painting himself into a corner. Harry Shearer seemed unimpressed with the president’s statement this afternoon that he’d seek approval from Congress before taking military action.
@theharryshearer isn't this what you wanted him to do, though?

@ThunderJew1775 I didn't "want" him to declare a red line without thinking through what that meant.

Wow, maybe it was just an “off-the-cuff” remark after all. Shearer’s betting that today’s statement, though, was carefully planned.
Be amazed if Obama delivered this speech before his legislative liaison people assured him he had the votes in Congress. #CantDoACameron

@theharryshearer maybhe he's counting on not having the votes in Congress.

Secretary of State John Kerry will do his best to pick up the pieces by making the rounds of Sunday morning talk shows.
going on all sunday shows. So guess o wants him to keep selling. But can kerry honestly say this is prez who does what he says, as ystrdy?

Is there anyone left on either side of the aisle who believes President Obama does what he says he’ll do?
@lrozen Can O honestly say he's the man to enforce intl norms when he blithely ignored his obligations under Convention Against Torture?
