Soon-to-be-former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner finally resigned Friday afternoon (effective August 30), making a final statement as mayor in which he blamed his own “personal failures” for his downfall. His attention quickly turned to the media, though, whom he said pulled the trigger in a frenzy of hysteria.

So glad I left council chambers before #Filner started this disconnected self aggrandizement.

My brief tinge of sympathy for Filner has gone completely out the window.
