Gun grabbers seize on first anniversary of Aurora theater shooting

“Justice for Trayvon” rallies in nearly 100 cities around the nation dominated the headlines today, but others chose to quietly remember the 12 people killed by James Holmes one year ago today in a mass shooting at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater. The shooting took place around 12:30 a.m., and mourners were on hand at a memorial site to pay their respects.

A formal ceremony was held this morning and attended by Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper.

While most settled for quiet reflection, others, such as Organizing for Action and Demand Action, took the opportunity to revive the push for national gun control. In March, Gov. Hickenlooper signed into law some of the most comprehensive gun control measures in the country, which promise to not only expand background checks, impose background check fees and set a 15-round limit on ammunition magazines, but also drive manufacturing and jobs out of the state.

The real Barack Obama was out golfing today, but @BarackObama (also known as OFA) was on the case to politicize today’s remembrance, tweeting that the best way to honor the victims in Aurora is to pass comprehensive gun control — which, coincidentally, is also the best way to “honor” Trayvon Martin.

Congress hasn’t acted? What was that vote in April all about, then?
