Yahoo! News issues correction regarding President Obama's 'country of birth'

This is awkward. Noted right-wing nut-job conspiracy site Yahoo! News briefly joined the “birther” camp today, making note that President Obama wouldn’t be swinging by his “country of birth” when he and the first family visit Africa later this month.

Yahoo! White House reporter Rachel Rose Hartman hasn’t tweeted about the story or the correction, but she sure doesn’t seem like a birther. After all, her Twitter bio features a photo of the president and his daughters.

Maybe someone else slipped in that detail, or maybe Yahoo! employs the same fact-checker who used to work at Barack Obama’s former literary agency. Whatever the reason, the article now refers to the president’s “ancestral homeland.”

Even when Yahoo! makes the gaffe, some can’t help but blame Fox News.
