Remember that tidbit about the Chinese president deciding not to sleep over at the lush Sunnylands estate with President Obama because of concerns of eavesdropping? Maybe that wasn’t such a bad idea. According to a series of tweets by Atlantic editor-at-large Steve Clemons, U.S. intel officials aren’t very careful about speaking their minds in public.
In Dulles UAL lounge listening to 4 US intel officials saying loudly leaker & reporter on #NSA stuff should be disappeared recorded a bit

@SCClemons Put in online, sir.
— Teemu Marjamäki (@TMrjmki) June 8, 2013
@TMrjmki I will. Though sound is distant
— Steve Clemons (@SCClemons) June 8, 2013
@SCClemons Do intel officers fly first class on government travel orders?
— Neil W. McCabe (@NeilWMcCabe) June 8, 2013
@NeilWMcCabe no idea. But lounges are for frequent flyers more than first class

Recent news stories suggest this might not be the best time to report on conversations that aren’t flattering to the administration (and/or compromise national security). That guy who made that YouTube video that caused the Benghazi attack? He might be getting a cell mate soon.

@henna_flowerz @attackerman hard to answer your question. They were loud. Almost bragging. Lacked circumspection about comments & jokes

@SCClemons Hope you took a picture of them. They were speaking in public.
— Jeff Jarvis (@jeffjarvis) June 8, 2013
@jeffjarvis yes. Very bad pics though but people in that bz will know them I think. But bad quality. Was a shock to me and wasn't prepared

— alan rusbridger (@arusbridger) June 8, 2013

@SCClemons So glad our secrets, our security, and our freedom are in the hands of folks with a subtle appreciation of all three.
— (((Charles Fishman))) (@cfishman) June 8, 2013
So, is this a case of intelligence officials letting something slip in public, or is it just some guys being loud?
@SCClemons @henna_flowerz @attackerman So…4 guys in a bar behaving like assholes. In other news, the line for the women's rm is very long
— driftglass (@Mr_Electrico) June 8, 2013
Unfortunately, they weren’t loud enough. Clemons is currently looking to clean up the audio before posting, but stay tuned (and don’t tell secrets in airport lounges, just in case).
We're awaiting updates from @SCClemons who claims to have overheard 4 U.S. Intel. officials saying @ggreenwald should be "disappeared".
— Anonymous (@YourAnonNews) June 8, 2013
@YourAnonNews @SCClemons @ggreenwald What's the chance Clemons may have already been "disappeared", too?
— Pearl E. Sweetcake (@journeyDONTseek) June 8, 2013
@journeyDONTseek @YourAnonNews @ggreenwald I'm not disappeared. Working on a piece on this
— Steve Clemons (@SCClemons) June 9, 2013
@SCClemons You're just Johnny on the spot, eh? And they were LOUD to boot. And they what-announced they are intel guys?
— Ley @? (@LeyWimber) June 8, 2013
@candycelgleason pretty much. It was a bit bizarre. But will post what I have and look forward to your thoughts
