New UMass/Boston Herald poll gives Scott Brown 6-point lead over Elizabeth Warren

A new poll by the University of Massachusetts and the Boston Herald shows U.S. Sen. Scott Brown pulling ahead of Elizabeth Warren by a six-point margin among registered voters, and by a margin of 49-45 among likely voters. The poll gives Brown a 57 percent favorable rating to Warren’s 48.

In its analysis, the Herald says that while Democrat-leaning voters made up 55 percent of the poll’s respondents, 3 in 10 registered voters called Warren’s views “too liberal.” Among self-described independents, Brown’s lead opens up to 58–35.

The poll doesn’t state whether Ace of Spades’ devastating takedown of Fauxcahontas played a part, but we’d like to think so.

Correction: An earlier version of this post referred to “Rep. Scott Brown.” He is a U.S. Senator, not a congressman. We regret the error.
