Soon after news broke of a mob in Egypt storming the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and tearing down the American flag, reports are emerging that an armed group has set fire to the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Danya Bashir, a young entrepreneur who describes herself in her Twitter profile as “the next president of Libya,” says the attack may be linked to a film critical of the prophet Muhammad, which early news reports have cited as a possible trigger of the Egypt attack.

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo outraged many by issuing an apology in response to the mob, tweeting, “We condemn the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.” There has been no response from the consulate in Libya yet.

Egypt-based news site Ahram Online is reporting that the film in question is “Muhammad’s Trial,” which it says was produced by two Coptic Christian Egyptians living in the United States and pastor Terry Jones, who famously threatened to burn a Koran in 2010.
