John Blunk, a Navy veteran and father of two, has been confirmed among those killed in the Aurora, Colo. movie theater shootings. Blunk’s girlfriend, Jansen Young, credits Blunk with saving her life by pushing her to the floor and shielding her with his body.

Young told “Today” that Blunk was re-enlisting in the Navy, telling her, “I was born to serve my country.”
