Look, we know we are at the point of hopelessness on the media EVER getting the facts straight on the Georgia voter reform law. After all, when the newspaper in Atlanta – the state capital – has to issue a correction after repeating the false narratives about the law written in the same zip code you know all is lost.
Still, there is amazement when journalists take a condescending tone on the issue, especially when they display ignorance about the details in a law they clearly have not read for themselves. That amazement drops to the level of pure comedy when it is a sports journalist delivering that attitude.
MLB's stand on moving the All-Star Game out of Atlanta due to voter-suppression laws in Georgia is the game's most important action since Jackie Robinson arrived in '47. When MLB, often slow to act, takes a strong stand, it means that it believes that it KNOWS the nation's pulse.

this is some breathtaking amount of spin there, bossy.
— Nat Myers (@Natmyersyall) April 2, 2021
As for MLB knowing the pulse of things, they seem to miss some other facts on the matter.
72% of Georgians support voter ID.

Which tracks with national trends.

Seriously, moving an All-Star game is the most important thing they have done since Jackie Robinson?! The only way one arrives at this conclusion is if they buy into the claim this is ”Jim Crow on steroids”. And if they do not read the language of the law. Oh – and if they do not read the Washington Post.
Your own newspaper says this is based on a lie.
— Luke Thompson (@ltthompso) April 3, 2021
Yea, Boswell seems oblivious that the President has been fact-checked by his own newspaper.
In this interview, Biden repeats a Four-Pinocchio claim about the new Georgia law: "You are going to close a polling place at 5 o’clock when working folks just get off." Nope, that's not in the law. Fact check here –> https://t.co/3OIweLxvQz https://t.co/yZwGnHJQQa
— Glenn Kessler (@GlennKesslerWP) April 1, 2021
There it is. When Glenn Kessler — one of the biggest defenders of Joe Biden you can find — cannot even abide the lies from the President on the matter, that is significant. This was regarding Biden’s call specifically to have Major League Baseball pull the game out of Atlanta, and he was blatantly lying about the issues.
Holy crap, this is a dumb take.

Compare Georgia’s voting laws with Delaware’s with regards to restrictions and then get back to me,,,,oh and one other thing where is Joe Biden from again?
— John Salmon (@jsalmon1159) April 2, 2021
And, just like we saw with the Delta CEO and Coca-Cola complaints leading to examples of those companies requiring ID, yes, the MLB has its own ”racist” standards in play.
I'm required to show ID to pick up game tickets, but not to vote?? You want anarchy, you'll get anarchy!! #BoycottMLB

Speaking of, there could be more issues for the league to deal with coming up.
What about the mlb game scheduled to be played this season at the Field of Dreams in Iowa? Iowa, too, passed a voter suppression bill.

Uh…oh…
Looks like the commissioner and the executives at MLB will have some more overreacting to do in the near future!
