Candace Owens is a HUGE figure in conservative politics. Many people soured on her due to her take on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and stated she seemed to be antisemitic. Her style is not for everyone and I am not promoting any of her controversial views on that subject.
I don't agree with her on everything she says or does, BUT even if you dislike her or recently soured on her, you can not take away the fact that she is a voice that has made some people listen to conservative ideas when they would not have done it before her.
I say all of this so we can discuss a BIG hoopla that happened on X after Candace posted about the fact she rarely drinks alcohol and many say she seemed to advocate for prohibition ... I'm not so sure.
It started with Candace quote tweeting a post that has been deleted.
I do not do drugs and I would encourage most people that follow me not to do drugs— even if they become legalized.

One of the biggest myths permeated is that prohibition was a failure in America.
No, it was actually a tremendous success. You just learned about it in school wrong.

Ok, so there we have it all of her responses on the issue in one place. I think I have a unique perspective with Candace on this since I do not do drugs and rarely drink alcohol. I was never a big drinker, even in the years we were supposed to be wild and get drunk, I was the designated driver. I just never liked how it made me feel.
ANYWAY, enough about me. Let's look at the tweet in question. Is she actually saying she wants to bring back prohibition or is she saying some aspects of it were not as awful as you are told while trying to advocate for sobriety? I can see where people think she is advocating for it as she is saying it was a success, but in the next post, she clearly states she is trying to make being sober as cool on social media as those who post about drinking.
I really understand how people who are already not fans can see it as advocating for prohibition to be put in place again, which I would vehemently disagree with because it is not the place of the government to rule our lives down to whether we consume alcohol or not. However, I see no call to action, no request it return. I simply see her stating there were things that were a success and being sober is a good thing particularly if you put the tweets together all in a row and not just the snapshot of the prohibition tweet.
Anyway, everyone is free to disagree. I like, follow, and interact with TONS of people who disagree with me all of the time. I also am not saying you should not drink alcohol. Many people do it with no problems at all and enjoy it and I say you go for it. It never worked out well for me although once in a while I will have a glass of wine with my sister.
What I really want us to do is allow nuance and disagreements back into the conservative movement without everyone having to love or be in lock-step with every position we take. I want us to put people on blast for bad takes. I fully support anyone and everyone who put Candace on blast for her posts on Israel and the Jewish people.
I just see a different perspective on this prohibition post than most everyone else and hopefully, sooner than later, the conservative movement is going to be ok with that.
It is just an opinion. I am not endorsing her for President I just did not see her asking to bring prohibition back, just stating not drinking alcohol has advantages.
