I have long argued the Left makes hero-martyrs out of the worst people because the Left's compassion and sympathy for a person is inversely proportional to that person's innocence.
It's why they clamor to abort unborn babies -- who are only 'guilty' of being 'inconvenient' (as if they weren't created in an intentional act) -- and why they go to the mattresses to defend guys like George Floyd, a slew of death-row inmates, and their latest cause célèbre: illegal immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen is in El Salvador as we speak, demanding to meet with the government, speak to Garcia, and bring him 'home' to Maryland.
That Van Hollen had no time to talk about actual Maryland resident Rachel Morin -- the mother of five raped and murdered by an illegal immigrant also from El Salvador -- does not surprise us. But it did outrage Morin's mother and create one hell of a midterm ad.
We also learned Garcia was flagged as a human trafficker, after he was stopped in Tennessee:

Kilmar Abrego Garcia was stopped in Tennessee for driving erratically and speeding by a state trooper in late November 2022 and was found to be driving an SUV full of people coming from Texas with an expired Maryland license, according to the documents.
“Subject was observed speeding and unable to maintain its lane, and was subsequently pulled over,” one entry stated.
"Encountering officer decided not to cite the subject for driving infractions but gave him a warning citation for driving with an expired driver's license," the memo stated. Maryland is one of the states that issue driver's licenses to illegal aliens.
Despite these crimes, Joe Biden's FBI ordered Tennessee authorities to release Garcia.
The latest revelations in Garcia's case involve a 2021 order of protection sought by his wife. Here's some of what she wrote in her complaint:
'At this point, I am afraid to be close to him. I have multiple photos/videos of how violent he can be and all the bruises he bas left me.'
In her own handwriting, she alleges that Abrego Garcia punched and scratched her on her eye, leaving her bleeding after throwing her laptop on the floor. She writes that on another day, he got angry again, started yelling, and ripped her shirt and shorts off, then grabbed her arm, leaving marks.
She also writes that in two times in 2020, he hit her.
'In November 2020, he hit me with his work boot'.
'In August 2020, hit me in the eye leaving a purple eye.'
On CNN, panelist Shermichael Singleton brought up these latest developments, and his co-panelist Tiffany Cross engaged in one of the biggest pivots of all time:
This is hysterical. After @MrShermichael rattles off the newly revealed Kilmar Abrego-Garcia MS-13 and serial domestic abuse evidence to CNN panel —

'We can't make it about Kilmar'?
Really?
The Left has gone all-in on painting Kilmar as an innocent 'Maryland man' who was wrongly removed from the country by that evil President Donald Trump. The Left made him the hill to die on.
Now that they're losing control of that narrative, the issue is suddenly, miraculously, bigger than one person.
Mark your calendars, because I'm about to say something that I'll likely never say again: Tiffany Cross is right.
But not in the way she thinks.
The issue has always been multi-faceted.
For starters, it's about the complete disregard for America's immigration laws. Not just by the Biden-Harris administration, but by several administrations who were more than happy to kick the can down the road. The problem was exacerbated under the last administration, and by design.
You know how I know it was by design? Because of all the people who -- after years of ignoring immigration law, as well as America's criminal laws -- are now demanding we slow-walk the deportation of people they brought here quickly, in droves, and flew across the country.
The goal was to make the system so broken, so messy, that any attempt to address it would be deemed impossible or unfair. The Democrats want it to take years to deport illegal immigrants so they can get back into power and then they can grant them amnesty and voting rights and solidify a permanent majority.
They weren't counting on President Trump getting reelected.
It's also about women like the aforementioned Rachel Morin. And Laken Riley. And Jocelyn Nunagary. It's about Drew Rosenberg, who was riding his motorcycle when he was struck and killed by illegal immigrant Roberto Galo. Galo backed up and drove over Rosenberg's body several times before trying to flee the scene.
It's about the people of Aurora, Colorado who watched their apartments being overtaken by violent Venezuelan gang members while Martha Raddatz coldly said it was just a 'handful' of buildings.
It's about places like Denver, where authorities cut fire and police budgets, laid off parks and rec workers, and shifted funds to illegal immigration efforts.
It is about the people in places like New York and Boston who saw their schools and community centers overrun by illegal immigrants while their children and communities suffered.
In a different time, I might have been open to discussions of due process and the arguments that the Left will ignore due process and the rule of law once they're back in power.
Except they have already done those things. Lois Lerner used the IRS to go after conservative non-profits to hamper their participation in the 2012 election. She walked away with a sweet retirement package and zero consequences.
Barack Obama sued the Little Sisters of the Poor and Hobby Lobby to force them to provide birth control and abortion coverage despite their religious objections.
Hillsdale College -- despite not taking a dime of federal education dollars -- was sued for Title IX violations.
Several pro-life activists were arrested and charged under the FACES act, with the FBI raiding homes and a judge snarkily telling an elderly woman to 'pray' about her health and not die in prison, as it would violate that woman's faith (the judge sentenced 76-year-old Paula Harlow to two years in prison). Kamala Harris made it clear during her campaign that she would not allow healthcare providers to express religious objections to abortions.
The Manhattan DA, Alvin Bragg, crafted a felony case against Donald Trump, coming up with 34 charges that would never have applied to anyone else. Just so the Left could call the President a 'convicted felon' during the campaign and his administration.
And, earlier today, I told you about the tragic shooting at Florida State University. Already, the anti-gun Left is swarming, ready and willing to strip Americans like me of our due process to ban our guns.
'If it saves one life!' they'll scream.
It's funny how the situation is (or isn't) about one life, depending on the Left's political need.
So -- for now -- my view is that we should give the same amount of consideration to due process as the Left gave to immigration laws, nuns, pro-life activists, and January 6 defendants.
That the amount of consideration is zero is not my problem.
