Jake Tapper is Either a Terrible Reporter or a Corrupt One (You'll Have to Buy His Book to Decide)

Townhall Media

Yesterday, CNN anchor Jake Tapper announced that he co-wrote a book with Alex Thompson titled Original Sin. In it, Tapper and Thompson will explore President Biden's 'decline, its cover-up, and his disastrous choice to run again' (per the subtitle of the book).

Excuse me, but seriously?

It takes some hubris for Jake Tapper to pretend he had no idea Joe Biden had serious cognitive issues. Most of us saw Joe Biden's performance during the 2020 campaign and knew then the lights were on, but no one was home. In the intervening four years, Biden's obvious decline was, well, obvious.

But I'm not here to rehash Jake Tapper's journalistic dereliction of duty.

One of my followers brought up this very good point that I want to expound on:

I honestly hadn't thought of that until I saw the reply, but then I remembered what happened to Senator Josh Hawley.

In 2021, Senator Hawley wrote a book 'The Tyranny of Big Tech', and was slated to publish it through Simon & Schuster in June of that year. After the 2020 election and January 6, Senator Hawley had questions about the election and election integrity. Asking those questions sparked outrage that caused Simon & Schuster to cancel the publication of Hawley's book.

Here's what The New York Times reported:

Simon & Schuster said on Thursday that it would cancel the publication of an upcoming book by Senator Josh Hawley, one of several members of Congress who tried to overturn the results of the presidential election.

Mr. Hawley, a Missouri Republican and Trump ally, has been criticized for challenging the results and accused of helping incite the mob that stormed the Capitol on Wednesday. His book, 'The Tyranny of Big Tech,' was scheduled to be published in June.

“We did not come to this decision lightly,” Simon & Schuster said in a statement. 'As a publisher it will always be our mission to amplify a variety of voices and viewpoints: At the same time we take seriously our larger public responsibility as citizens, and cannot support Senator Hawley after his role in what became a dangerous threat.'

There was no 'dangerous threat' after January 6, and Joe Biden was inaugurated without incident.

But if what Hawley did in the aftermath of the 2020 election and January 6 was a 'dangerous threat,' I will certainly make the case that what Jake Tapper did was equally -- if not more -- dangerous.

In the waning days of his presidency, The Wall Street Journal published an exposé on how the White House functioned with a 'diminished' Joe Biden.

Robert Hur declined to charge Biden in the stolen documents case because his cognitive function was so poor. It was so poor, in fact that Joe Biden made car noises during the very serious interview with the special prosecutor. Legacy media attacked Hur, claiming he wasn't a doctor and had no right to diagnose Biden's cognitive abilities.

Save for the fact that, like the rest of us, Robert Hur has eyes.

In 2021, Biden was 'unavailable' for phone calls leading up to the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal that left Americans and allies abandoned and killed thirteen service members.

The list of examples of how unwell Biden was goes on and on, but the point remains: for four years, we had a sitting president who was cognitively unwell.

And media knew.

They did nothing because they wanted to protect a Democrat and beat Donald Trump again. Remember -- the only reason Joe Biden was removed from the race is that they realized after the June debate he'd lose to Donald Trump. But they didn't remove him from the White House. They didn't care his brain is Swiss cheese because he has a (D) after his name.

Tapper's co-author, Alex Thompson, wrote a piece for Axios about 'two Joe Bidens' and reported the president was 'dependably engaged' from 10 am to 4 pm.

He's the President of the United States. That is a 24/7/365 job if there ever was one.

This 'reporting' signaled to the American people and our enemies that we had a part-time president. It's a freaking miracle a bad international actor didn't try to take advantage of our lack of leadership.

The cover-up of Joe Biden's cognitive decline is the biggest scandal in American history, and those who helped cover it up -- including Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson -- should not get to enjoy the lucre of their negligence.

Josh Hawley didn't like the outcome of the 2020 election; Tapper and Thompson tried to rig the 2024 election.

I know which one is really dangerous.
